Qualities To Look For Before Hiring A Corporate Photographer

By France Phillips

All companies have an undeniable requirement for corporate photography, but finding a good corporate photographer is a rather difficult job. Although, there are a lot of expert photographers in the market, the kind of qualities that they need to have for corporate photography is very different from the requirement for other forms of photography.

Companies planning to use the services of a corporate photographer should focus on some key qualities and check the capabilities of the candidate to make sure that he can provide desirable results.

Versatility is an important quality that a corporate photographer must possess, so that he can handle multiple kinds of jobs and responsibilities like events coverage, ad photography, or clicking attractive pictures of the company's products. A good corporate photographer must always be ready to take care of any of these duties at short notice.

A corporate photographer covering an event will normally have no luxury of time to set up his angles or to do retakes, and thus he has to be cautious all the time. There is always an air of unpredictability in corporate events, so any carelessness displayed by the photographer will lead to shoddy coverage that will be unable to capture the event properly. Therefore, a corporate photographer must be fast to respond and should always stay alert to the circumstances and changes going on at the event.

It is also quite important for a corporate photographer to be able to make the most of the resources provided to him. For instance, if it is an indoor event, he may have to cover it under low intensity or insufficient lights and probably a large assembly of guests. Even in such difficult circumstances, he must be capable of taking good quality photos.

Another important aspect that must be looked into is the modus operandi and personality of the photographer. It is important for a corporate photographer to involve himself in the interests of the firm. A good photographer must be able to interact well with the staff, so that they don't feel uncomfortable when they are facing the lens at corporate events or informal events held in the company. Moreover, the photographer must have a good nature and should be nice to work with.

You must look at samples of prior assignments of the photographer, and not get carried away by his market reputation only. It is recommended to organize face-to-face interviews with the candidates to get to know their disposition and qualifications, and to figure out how well they will live up to your expectations.
